Chris Kirk Wins Crowne Plaza Invitational
Chris Kirk wins Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial to earn his fourth PGA Tour victory. The event is one of five invitational tournaments on the tour and is played every May at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The 2015 tournament was extremely close for all four days of play. Throughout the event, things were wide open and it seemed like anyone had a chance to grab the lead and win. There were 21 different players who were within just three shots of the lead when the final group completed the front nine.
Kirk was able to avoid a potential four-man playoff with a clutch 7 foot putt to save par on the 18th hole. That putt allowed him to finish at 12 under with a one shot lead. Kirk then headed to the clubhouse to watch the rest of the field finish and see if he would earn the victory. After Ian Poulter failed to birdie the 17th or eagle the 18th, Kirk could celebrate his fourth PGA Tour win. However, this celebration was a little different than most you’ll see. Instead of celebrating on the 18th green, he was able to receive congratulatory high fives from his sons Sawyer and Foster in the clubhouse.
