Jim Furyk Wins RBC Heritage
Jim Furyk wins RBC Heritage to snap a win less drought on the PGA Tour that lasted more than 4 years. Furyk is now a two time winner at the RBC Heritage, which is played at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Furyk shot 8-under 63 and beat Kevin Kisner in a two-hole playoff to earn his 17th career win. His putting game was on and off during the previous three days, but came up huge when it mattered most. Furyk drilled a 12 foot putt on the second playoff hole (17) to win his first tournament in 4 and a half years. There was a large roar from the crowd and an emotional fist pump from Furyk, finally ending the run of disappointing losses.
He started the day four shots behind Troy Merritt but was able take the lead after 9 holes with a score of 16-under. He had his only bogey of the day on 11 which put him in a four way tie, but then went on to gain a three-shot lead with birdies on 12, 13 and 15. It looked as though the nightmare was going to continue when Kisner caught him on the final hole with a birdie. However, Furyk kept his focus and was able to win the tournament in a playoff.
