Jordan Spieth Wins Tour Championship
Jordan Spieth wins Tour Championship to conclude his historic 2015 season. The victory at East Lake this past weekend also won Spieth the 2015 FedEx Cup title and a total of $11.5 million in earnings. He earned $1.5 million for winning the Tour Championship and a $10 million bonus for winning the FedEx Cup. Spieth’s earnings for 2015 totaled just over $22 million, breaking the PGA Tour record.
Spieth was able to defeat Henrik Stenson, Danny Lee and Justin Rose by four strokes. He held the lead comfortably for most of the day and was again masterful with his putter.
After this latest triumph, there is absolutely no doubt that 2015 was Jordan Spieth’s year. The young star won five events, including two major victories at The Masters and US Open. A late season surge by Jason Day created some debate about who would win the 2015 PGA Tour player of the year. Spieth has now put that debate to bed and moved back to number one in the world.
With Spieth being just 22 years old, the future is extremely bright for golf’s new superstar. With everything he has accomplished in just a few seasons, there is absolutely no limit to what he can become in the future. With other young starts like Jason Day and Rory McIlroy, the next decade of golf should give us some extremely competitive and compelling tournaments.
