19th at Legend Golf & Safari Resort
(Limpopo, South Africa)
This is hands down the most unbelievable hole of golf in the world. You can only reach it by helicopter and you will tee off at 400m above the green on Hanglip Mountain. Celebrities and professional golfers alike flock to have a try at the most difficult par-3 on earth.
This course is home to the World Ice Golf Championships, which pretty much tells you what it’s all about. Everything is rather similar to a regular game of golf except for the larger cups and shorter holes.
This course is located in and around the home of the Indianapolis 500, Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Prison View Golf Club
(St. Francisville, Louisiana)
This 9-hole course is run by the Louisiana State Penitentiary Employee Recreation Committee. It is located right next to the beautiful scenery of a maximum security prison. Play can be suspended at any time due to Warden’s discretion.
Palmetto Hall Plantation – Robert Cupp Course
(Hilton Head, South Carolina)
This golf course was designed with a computer and is the only one of its kind. Its geometric design features bunkers and fairways with a trapezoidal shape. The greens and tees have a square/rectangular shape.
Opal Fields Golf Club
(South Australia, Australia)
This course is famous for being completely grass-less. The full 18-hole course presents a unique challenge with its extremely fast roll. The oiled sand greens allow for putts that are much smoother than one would expect.
El Camaleon at the Fairmont Mayakoba
(Quintana Roo, Mexico)
This amazing course is filled with treacherous hazards like the one pictured above. There are sand dunes and mangroves that run along the fairways, picturesque lagoons and massive underground caves.
Don Mueang Airport
This course is unlike any other and located right beside the tarmac of a major airport. Not only do you have to deal with the obstacles of the course, but the noise from commercial jetliners presents a rather unique challenge.
Coeur D’Alene Golf Resort
(Coeur D’Alene, Idaho)
This course features an amazing par-3 14th hole which is sure to result in more than a few lost balls. The island green can actually be moved by a system of cables and winches to as far out as 218 yards. Golfers are escorted to the putting surface by ferry.
Le Touessrok Golf Course
(Port Louis District, Mauritius)
This stunning course is where you go to play golf in paradise. It is located across the water from a mainland resort on its very own island. It has been named a “Top 10 Golf Course in the World” by Golf World Magazine.
