Ping G Series
The Ping G Series is possibly the fastest and most forgiving family of clubs the company has ever produced. Designers of the Ping G Series used some unorthodox inspiration in order to find new innovative technologies which will help improve your game.
Ping Chairman and CEO, John A. Solheim, took a close-up photograph of a dragonfly and was extremely interested in its wing structure. He took the photo to a group of his engineers and it eventually led to the development of Dragonfly Technology, which is featured in the Ping G Drivers. The technology features an innovative exoskeleton design which produces Ping’s lightest and thinnest crown to date. This light and thin crown helps reduce weight by 8 grams and put the center of gravity much lower and deeper than previous Ping drivers. This also increases dynamic loft and significantly raises MOI for maximum forgiveness and distance.
The unusual inspiration behind the Ping G Series did not stop at the dragonfly. Ping researchers were also interested in the base flaps used on 18-wheelers which help reduce large-scale vortex shedding behind the semi-trailer. They used this research to help enhance the speed and aerodynamics in the Ping G Drivers. Vortec Technology at the back of the club and turbulators on the crown help reduce drag, increase speed/velocity and promote distance.
The Ping G Series also features the G SF Tec Driver, G LS Tec Driver, G Fairway Woods, G Hybrids, G Irons and a new category – the Crossover. The Ping G Crossover Hybrid is meant to combine the control and work-ability of an iron with the forgiveness and speed of a hybrid. It is the first club of its kind, providing much higher launch, increased versatility and more forgiveness than typical driving irons.
